John Hynes

John Hynes serves as the Director of Development at Capital Rivers Commercial, where he leads complex projects from deal conception through to disposition. Specializing in both ground-up construction and creative redevelopment, John oversees the full lifecycle of each asset, ensuring that strategic vision translates into tangible long-term value.

With a background that bridges brokerage and development, John brings a comprehensive perspective to every project. He possesses a sharp eye for site selection and deal underwriting; skills he leverages to navigate the early stages of acquisition. As projects evolve, John takes charge of the critical details, managing entitlements and permitting, coordinating design, and overseeing construction budgets. He is trusted to lead diverse teams of contractors, outside consultants, and local officials while maintaining a strict focus on risk management and communication.

John’s approach to real estate is rooted in a unique educational foundation. A graduate of Santa Clara University, he began his studies in engineering before pivoting to philosophy, a transition that honed the critical thinking skills he relies on daily. This blend of technical discipline and philosophical inquiry allows him to view complex issues from multiple angles, weigh trade-offs effectively, and adjust course when necessary to keep projects moving forward.

Outside of the office, John applies the same level of endurance and discipline to his personal pursuits. An avid runner, he has completed the California International Marathon (CIM) and numerous half-marathons. He can also be found hiking and backpacking in the Sierras, exploring the landscapes that define the Northern California region.
